The project included an initial GIS implementation planning, on-site GPS data collection of critical infrastructure data, plant records database integration, historical mapping research and deed database development, and deployment of the data in a series of hard copy and digital maps. By implementing GIS technology, Winterthur has benefited in a number of areas, including the management of the estate’s gardens, facilities, museum, and visitor experiences. As a tool to assist in the planning and operation activities of the Estate, the technology provides uniform and timely geospatial information to Winterthur’s personnel and other interested parties.
