Data Design and Systems Integration

WorldView Solutions specializes in the design, integration and implementation of spatial databases. Although our customary data development format is Environmental Systems Research Institute’s (ESRI) geodatabase, we are capable of designing and developing spatial databases to conform to dozens of specialized spatial and non-spatial data formats.

Data Model Development

To effectively build and share commonly used layers, GIS developers and managers must follow a set of collective content standards and data model designs, built on accepted principles, for modeling and describing real-world objects in a geodatabase. WorldView database design experts excel in the development of geodatabases that comply with established data model standards, designing geodatabases that describe all feature specifications for the data model, including spatial relationships, inheritance relationships, integrity rules, and database feature behaviors that are consistent with applicable model standards.

Data Conversion and Extraction

WorldView Solutions has completed dozens of data conversion projects for diverse government agencies, national non-profit organizations, and corporate clients. Our data conversion capabilities include development of spatial data from orthophotography, hardcopy maps, raster data, engineering drawings, historical documentation, CAD design files, GPS and other sources. WorldView specializes in the development of road centerline, site address, parcel mapping, and utilities datasets.

Field Data Collection

WorldView Solutions’ field data collection specialists are experienced with the use of mapping grade GPS and other data collection devices for the on-site capture of spatial information. We regularly conduct field studies to verify site addresses, street names and address ranges; take digital photos of addressable structures; and capture utility features, such as storm drains, manholes and water meters. WorldView employs mapping grade GPS equipment and post processing techniques which typically yield average horizontal position accuracy of one foot or better.

Spatial Analysis / Spatial Data Maintenance

WorldView’s GIS professionals perform a variety of spatial analysis operations, including raster analysis, environmental analysis, demographic studies, industrial development, land use and transportation planning, location analysis, and real estate market analysis. WorldView analytical specialists work closely with our clients to identify analysis problems, define parameters, and interpret study results.

Needs Assessment and Implementation Planning / Process Redesign

Because the development of a GIS can represent a substantial investment by an organization in terms of data development, hardware, software, and staffing, it is important to assure that these components are effectively specified, acquired, integrated, and implemented. To this end, WorldView Solutions offers general GIS consulting, needs assessment, and implementation planning services.

Professional Cartographic Map Production

At WorldView Solutions, our cartographic specialists and professional graphic design staff generate maps in the GIS using client spatial data and then export them to commercial-grade graphic design software to blend in artistic elements and generate greater visual appeal. WorldView cartographers can generate informative, attractive maps for tourism, transit, special events, public information, and other publications.

Hardcopy Map Production and Automation

WorldView can leverage client GIS data to create hardcopy plots that closely resemble a client’s existing non-GIS base maps and still meet new client mapping specifications, including scale, symbology, and reference grid. Worldview utilizes a combination of off the shelf and customized automation tools within GIS software that allow users to automatically refresh and print hard copy maps in a variety of sizes from any computer to any printer.

GIS Software Development and Customization

WorldView has developed an extensive list of custom desktop software solutions to assist GIS professionals and novices alike and we apply this experience to assure the success of each project. WorldView’s staff works closely with clients to identify opportunities for evaluation and acquisition of COTS solutions when appropriate, as well as to develop and implement custom tools and/or applications that permit customers to more effectively use and manage their GIS. WorldView software customization and development experience spans desktop, mobile, and web mapping solutions. All source code for customized products are delivered to our clients at the end of every project.

Web Map Development and Hosting

WorldView Solutions offers a number of web-enabled mapping services, including site development, cache creation, hosting, and maintenance. We have created and currently host sites that are available for public access, sites that require authentication for access to sensitive information, and fee-based subscription sites. WorldView is an ESRI licensed ArcGIS Server .NET developer and we host and deploy spatially enabled web sites using the latest mapping technology. WorldView is also an implementer of MapsDirect, a custom set of map controls and API built on ESRI’s ArcGIS Server framework.

Individualized Instruction

WorldView offers all of its GIS training using a customized approach. This customization includes assessing the training needs of clients during on-site meetings; preparation of hard copy manuals to be used in conjunction with each course; and the use of the client's data and workflows during the training. Classes can be provided on-site or at WorldView's training facility. Follow-up classes and one-on-one mentoring can also be provided as needed.
