Museum and Estate GIS Development
Summary
The project included an initial GIS implementation planning, on-site GPS data collection of critical infrastructure data, plant records database integration, historical mapping research and deed database development, and deployment of the data in a series of hard copy and digital maps. By implementing GIS technology, Winterthur has benefited in a number of areas, including the management of the estate’s gardens, facilities, museum, and visitor experiences. As a tool to assist in the planning and operation activities of the Estate, the technology provides uniform and timely geospatial information to Winterthur’s personnel and other interested parties. GIS has become an indispensable part of the Estate’s vision for the future.
