Database Development/Needs Assessment
Summary
The project included updating the City’s existing parcel GIS database, updating the parcel database using a variety of sources, implementation of the MyMap Viewer and delivery of hard copy tax maps. Data sources included the City’s existing GIS data, plats and deeds, VDOT rights of ways, planimetric features, and the 2002 VBMP aerial photographs. After completing the database updates for the City, WorldView developed a more comprehensive strategic plan that assessed future GIS needs for the City.

Summary
WorldView Solutions is providing annual consulting services to the City of Norton, Virginia. Current efforts include migration of the City’s existing data into a geodatabase format conforming to a customized data model and field data collection of public utilities infrastructure. WorldView is also performing an E911 data integration and replication project for the City and adjacent Wise County. Most recently, WorldView completed a comprehensive field effort to capture photos of all structures in the County verify the location of all City addresses.
