MERG Wins Governor’s Technology Award

The MERG (Mountain Empire Regional GIS) project has been presented with a Virginia Governor’s Technology Award for Cross-Boundary Collaboration. This award recognizes the innovative use of IT to provide government service based on the common needs in service delivery through shared processes. WorldView Solutions developed the regional GIS data sharing architecture, software, and services for this regional project. By winning this award, the MERG partners demonstrated strategies to share data easily across boundaries, create knowledge-sharing cultures, and provide IT solutions that support common business processes and promote innovative partnership programs.

City of Lynchburg Wins IAAO Award

The City of Lynchburg web mapping application has won the annual Public Information Program award from the International Association of Assessing Officer. This award is given to an assessment jurisdiction that has developed and implemented an effective system for the dissemination to taxpayers of information regarding the assessment process. The City’s web mapping application, developed by WorldView Solutions provides real time access to the City’s complete assessment data and is fully integrated with the City’s GIS database, providing users with access to dozens of data layers and current assessment data on the City’s parcels.

Esri User Conference Lightning Talk

As part of Esri’s International User Conference, WorldView will present a lightning talk on its involvement with the non-profit Virtual World Race program. The Virtual World Race is an online motivational program designed to encourage student fitness, enhance student achievement, and combat childhood obesity. WorldView’s lightning talk will occur directly after the plenary session, at 4pm in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center.

BMP Tracking Made Easy: A Virginia Case Study

WorldView Solutions will make a presentation titled “BMP Tracking Made Easy: A Virginia Case Study” at the 2011 National Association of Conservation Districts. In partnership with WorldView, the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation recently completed a project with the state’s Soil and Water Conservation Districts to modernize their obsolete Best Management Practices (BMP) tracking software. The successful project resulted in a modern Web platform for managing more than a decade of the Commonwealth’s BMP data. This presentation will explore how conservation organizations can leverage the latest technology to manage evolving conservation programs.

VectorMap Federal User Conference Presentation

As part of the 2011 Esri Federal User Conference, WorldView will co-present with the Smithsonian Institution on a talk titled “VectorMap - Using Silverlight for Disease Vector Distribution Data”. The presentation will focus on the current capabilities of the VectorMap web site, planned geoprocessing and analytics enhancements, and a demonstration by WorldView of a prototype using the new Silverlight mapping components.
